EmForge Portal grew up from "old good"
EmForge. During several years of development we realized:
- For many people it is not clear "how to deploy", as well as complete even simple Windows Install - so, simple hosting solution required;
- We still have users interested not in the public project hosting, but for private solution - so, we need provide solution for people to install in their local network (in case they have enough experience);
- Workflows are not really required for tasks - most people used default workflows - so, Workflows looks like more "Enterprise" functionality and may be optional;
- Good combination of Tasks, Wiki, SVN Browser, easy to use and install - this is what most people looking for (at least then they look at EmForge side).
So, we decided to change a way we are working:
- Organize project hosting service emforge.net - for people who do not want to spent time for any installations;
- Choose Liferay as a platform - this allow us to use many ready-to-use components like Blogs, Wiki, Forums and many many more;
- Provide Open-Source components for people, who wants to install software in their own network.
EmForge Portal is in very early access stage - we do not allow to host users projects yet, but hope, after some period of development and testing we will feel free to enable it (finally)

For each project hosted on EmForge followed tools are available:
- Forums;
- Wiki;
- Blogs;
- SVN Repository Browser;
- Team Management (currently in developmnt);
- Agile Task management system (planned);
- SVN Hosting (planned);
- Code Review Tool (planned);
